Renter's Insurance

Protect Yourself and Your Possessions with Renter’s Insurance

Why You Need Renter’s Insurance

  • Did you know that your landlord’s property insurance does not cover your personal possessions from loss due to fire, theft, storms, water damage, and other perils?

  • Are you aware that you may be liable for damage done to your apartment or house due to your negligence, such as leaky waterbed?

  • Did you know that if someone slips and falls in your dwelling you might be liable for medical payments and damages?

  • If you suffer a loss covered under the policy and the loss makes your apartment/house not fit to live in, you are eligible to receive benefits for Additional Living Expenses.  Consider how much it would cost you to replace your furniture, electronic equipment, clothes, jewelry, and other personal items in the even of loss.  With replacement cost coverage if a loss occurs, you will receive reimbursement for the full cost to repair or replace your property.  Like any insurance policy, renter's insurance will have deductibles.  This is the amount of loss you will have to cover out of pocket before receiving money from the insurance company.  The higher the deductible, the lower the premiums.

  • If you have such items as valuable jewelry, antiques, furs, coin or stamp collections, or other big ticket items, they often will not be completely covered under a basic policy.  To cover these completely, endorsements extending coverage should be considered.
